Ludo is a classic strategy board game derived from the ancient Indian game of Pachisi. Two to four players race their four tokens from start to finish according to the rolls of a single die. On YonoGames, Ludo is elevated into a competitive skill-based arena where strategic thinking, probability management, and psychological reads separate champions from casual players.
Each player starts with four tokens in their home base (coloured corner). The goal is to move all four tokens around the cross-shaped board and into the home column, ultimately reaching the centre home triangle — before your opponents do the same. Simple to learn, but endlessly deep in strategy.
On YonoGames, our proprietary matchmaking system pairs players of similar skill ratings, ensuring every game is a genuine challenge. Our certified random number generator governs dice rolls, ensuring absolute fairness in every session.
Starting a Token
A token may only leave its home base when the player rolls a six. Rolling a six also grants an additional turn. Tokens cannot enter the board on any other roll.
Movement
Tokens move clockwise around the board according to the dice value. You must move a token if any legal move is possible. You cannot choose to skip a valid move.
Capturing Opponents
Landing on a square occupied by an opponent's token sends that token back to its home base. The capturing player earns a bonus roll. Safe squares (marked with a star) prevent captures.
Safe Squares
Certain squares on the board are designated safe zones. Tokens on these squares cannot be captured by opponents. Your home column is always safe once entered.
Blocking
Two or more tokens of the same colour on the same square form a block. No opponent token may pass or capture a block. Blocks are a powerful defensive and offensive tool.
Home Column & Winning
Each colour has a dedicated home column that only their tokens may enter. A token must reach the home triangle with an exact roll. The first player to bring all four tokens home wins.
Ludo transcends luck. The best players apply consistent decision frameworks to each dice roll, turning probability into systematic advantage.
YonoGames offers multiple Ludo variants for different play styles and skill levels.
